Embodiment is knowing that the body is a verb and not a noun.

Dance Inquiry is dedicated to promoting dance, creative movement and self-expression as gateways into more mindful living.

Tamara Borovica

Hi there. Welcome to my webpage. My name is Tamara and I’m pleased to meet you here.

I am a researcher, contemplative practitioner, creative dance practitioner and teacher. My research focuses on embodiment, identity, and psycho-social approaches to mental health, wellbeing and belonging. My expertise is in embodied and arts-based methods for participatory research inclusive of non-normative ways of knowing.

I am curious about the links between creative practice, such as dance, and health, wellbeing and belonging, for individuals but also communities. I am also deeply interested in quiet, visceral ways of knowing.

My education has been broad because understanding humans is not an easy task. I trained internationally, studying somatic psychotherapy with Core Energetics Institute in Switzerland, discovering the power of community and creativity from East Side Institute in New York, USA,  the power of movement and embodiment from Open Floor International and the power of presence and compassion from Gabor Mate’s Compassionate Inquiry program. I also hold a Ph.D. in Gender, Sexuality and Education from the University of Melbourne. In my work, I like to invite individuals into states of flow, play and creative self-expression where there is often a space for integration, transformation and (co)creation.

Open Floor movement practice is a lively, sweaty movement practice and a creative dance inquiry dedicated to the art of becoming fully present, alive and at home in our skin. It is an embodied movement practice bringing creativity, self awareness and purpose to life.

In Open Floor movement, we dance with attention on the here and now in order to attend to what is alive in us and practice moving from habit to choice and creative possibility.

In her movement work, Tamara explores how dance can help us expand beyond our well-known patterns toward more possibilities.
